Frame - bolted or welded?

After familiarizing yourself with our product range, you will see that our products are divided into two groups – trailers with bolted and riveted joints, and trailers with welded frames. We have chosen to label the different manufacturing processes as standard (S) and professional (P).

Components of trailers with bolted and riveted joints are cut out of sheet metal and bent.

They are assembled with rivets and bolts.

Welded frame trailers are a welded steel tube construction that makes the trailer stable and highly environmentally resistant.

Thanks to the frame, the trailer is resilient, vibration-resistant and thus highly resistant to environmental impact.

Welded frame

One of the most important factors for assessing the strength of a trailer is its frame.

The design of the frame starts with 3D CAD drawing by the engineers.

The bottom frame and side frame details of Tiki trailers are welded together from laser-cut tubes and then hot-dip galvanized in their entirety.

This solution provides maximum elasticity and corrosion resistance. The picture below shows the bottom frame together with the crossbeams and subframes.

Such a lattice construction allows the frame not to deform due to load.

Side rails

One of the great advantages of Tiki trailers is a steel tube, mounted at the top of the trailer.

It is very necessary and important for better loading, for supporting the load on the hatch and fixing the straps on the outside of the hatch.

Steel side profiles

Side frames of Tiki trailers are made of high quality metal from Scandinavia’s largest sheet metal manufacturer.

The side slats have two stiffness profiles that make the slat unbendable, vibration-resistant and resistant to any shocks from the load.

In doing so, the profiles have given an excellent appearance to our trailers for the past 25 years.

Front and rear flaps (hatches) on steel frame

The front and rear ramps of Tiki trailers are foldable and can be removed very easily. The frame of the trailer is made of tubular steel, which also allows it to be used as a ramp for smaller vehicles (quad bikes).

Drawbar

The drawbar is made of square steel tubes with a minimum wall thickness of 3 mm.

The material provides guaranteed strength and safe use of the trailer.

Shaft type

Today, rubber torsion suspension is the axle type with which the majority of our trailers are manufactured. A few models have leaf spring systems.

Axle beams are hot-dip galvanized, hubs come from the world’s leading manufacturers, Knott and BPV.

Wheel bearings are water resistant. The axles are fitted with springs that dampen the effect of the impact holes on driving characteristics.

Water-resistant plywood in the flat bottom

All Tiki trailers are equipped with a weatherproof laminated plywood floor.

The plywood has a non-slip Heksa Plus surface pattern, the edges of the plywood are moisture treated.

Protected electricity system

The electrical systems of Tiki trailers use prefabricated and controlled cables.

To protect the electrical system from external damage, the cables are hidden in the trailer frame, but at the same time it is easy to replace cables if necessary. For best visibility in traffic, lights from the Austrian manufacturer Aspöck are used.

Safe lashing of cargo

Tiki trailers are equipped with internal and external loops and hooks for lashing the load.

The internal loops are located on the inside of the battens and are supported on frame posts for greater tensile strength.

The internal loops are not placed on the bottom of the trailer, as this makes loading and transportation of sheet material difficult.

Lashing functionality is further enhanced by heavy-duty hooks welded to the outside of the frame.

Accessories

A wide range of accessories is available for Tiki trailers.

The most popular products are plastic covers, tarpaulins, canopies for mesh gates, elevation clamps, mesh gates, spare wheels and motorcycle stands.
